A motorcyclist died Friday following a collision that involved two other vehicles near American River Drive, shutting down sections of a “heavily traveled corridor” during the evening commute, according to Sacramento Police.
Just before 5:30 p.m., a man driving a motorcycle was traveling northbound on Howe Avenue just north of Highway 50 in the Campus Commons area, said Officer Marcus Basquez, a Sacramento Police spokesman. The motorcyclist clipped another vehicle that was traveling in the same direction while splitting lanes.
The motorcycle was so light that it bounced off of the first impact and collided into a second vehicle, Basquez said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Sacramento Fire Department.
“All of Howe Avenue northbound was closed for several house while investigators and CSI processed the scene,” Basquez said.
