Aug. 8-14 is Wooden Boat Week at Lake Tahoe, a celebration of nautical life from the early part of the 20th century.
This year's Concours d'Elegance boat show, Aug. 8-9, will highlight Riva boats from Italy, hailed as some of the most glamorous ever to hit the water. About 125 wooden boats will be on display at the Sierra Boat Co. marina on Carnelian Bay from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. The show, started in 1972, now draws around 10,000 spectators.
One-day tickets are $20 at the gate; two-day tickets are $25. Children under 12 are free and seniors 62 and older pay $15.
If you miss the show but plan to visit the lake later in the week, keep your eyes peeled: Boat-owner events include a parade Aug. 10, a regatta Aug. 11 and a lunchtime rendezvous at Camp Richardson Aug. 12.
