The San Francisco Museum of Art originally opened in 1935 and was the first museum on the West Coast dedicated to 20th century art. It was renamed the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in 1975. The museum collection ranges from modern painting to sculpture, photography to media arts, architecture to design. Some of the museum highlights include works by Henri Matisse, Frida Kahlo, Paul Klee, Roy Lichtenstein and Jackson Pollock.
