RENO, Nev. (November 30, 2006) -- In an exclusive performance to the Reno market, Harrah's Reno presents a spectacular Kung Fu Show as it makes its American premier in the "Biggest Little City." Direct from China, Shaolin Kung Fu: Inside and Outside Temple will debut in Sammy's Showroom for one week only, Dec. 12-17.
The Belina Poly Shaolin Kung Fu Star Performing Group will begin its first United States tour with its debut stop at Harrah's Reno. The group, which is made up of practicing monks, will use the popular Chinese martial art of Kung Fu to demonstrate the traditional culture of China. Audience members will leave with a better understanding of the normal life and practices of monks who live in the world-renowned Shaolin Temple.
The Shaolin Temple, which has 2000 years of history, is regarded as the birthplace of Zen Buddhism and the holy place of martial arts. Each performer of the group is a member of the celebrated temple, where they have studied Shaolin Kung Fu for years. In what's become the oldest and widest spread of martial arts, Shaolin Kung Fu is described by the group as the synthesis of the heroism, tranquility and other qualities of Zen Buddhism.
Shaolin Kung Fu: Inside and Outside Temple is scheduled to perform live at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Catch them first in Reno, in a show that promises audiences a colorful and kinetic performance full of action. The show is in Reno for one week only, Dec. 12-17.
