Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed 26 new judges to state superior courts, filing seats authorized by legislation passed in 2006.
Senate Bill 56, authored by then-Sen. Joe Dunn, created 50 additional superior court judgeships.
On Friday, Schwarzenegger filled 26 of them with 17 Republicans, eight Democrats and one declined-to state. The county with the most new judges is fast-growing San Bernardino, where Schwarzenegger appointed six judges.
