Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is naming Mary Nichols, a top environmental official for former Govs. Jerry Brown and Gray Davis, to chair the state's embattled Air Resources Board, according to Capitol sources.
The pick is set to be announced at the governor's news conference at 2:15 p.m. today.
The news conference follows stories in The Bee, San Francisco Chronicle, Los Angeles Times and San Diego Union-Tribune, in which the board's former top officials as well as Democrats questioned the Republican governor's environmental credentials.
