1. OVERDUE BUDGET DAY 13 VO/SOT

Friday the 13th means California's Budget is now 13 days late. Legislative leaders met yesterday for budget negotiations, resulting in a new round of finger-pointing between Republicans and Democrats, but no compromise. There are no legislative sessions scheduled today. Efforting soundbites and video on the overdue budget with government watchdog groups.

2. LEAD ELECTRONIC WASTE VO/SOT

The United Nations estimates 50 million tons of e-waste is thrown away world wide. Much of that is shipped to China, although the country's laws ban electronic waste importation. Recent university studies show lead from that electronic waste has ended up in toy jewelry imported from China and sold in the United States, some of which has been recently recalled for high levels of lead. Efforting soundbites from Integrated Waste Management Board and feeding file video of electronic waste recycling.

3. ELDER ABUSE RECOGNITION TRAINING VO/SOT

The Contractors State License Board will conduct a training seminar for police officers and prosecutors to recognize signs of financial elder abuse, particularly as it relates to phony contractors who rip off elder Californians. Efforting soundbites and video.
