1. BUDGET 18 DAYS LATE VO/SOT

A vote on the state budget scheduled for today on the Democrats version of the spending plan has been postponed after meetings late yesterday between Democrat and Republican leaders in both houses, signaling they may be closer to a deal. The governor has cancelled public events this week to remain in Sacramento for private meetings. Efforting soundbites and video.

2. FLEX FUEL VEHICLES HEARING VO/SOT

Senator Dean Florez (D-Shafter) has convened an informational hearing of the Government Organization Committee to investigate the purchase of "flex fuel vehicles" which he contends are a waste of taxpayer money. The vehicles are intended to use ethanol, but there isn't enough available. Florez says instead they are using regular gasoline and polluting areas, particularly the Central Valley. 3. FOSTER CARE AND YOUTH VIOLENCE HEARING VO/SOT
