1. NO SENATE BUDGET VO/SOT
After locking down the Senate Friday night through Saturday morning, the Senate President Pro Tempore told Republicans to come up with their own budget and find 12 Democrats to vote for it on Wednesday. The plan that passed the Assembly early Friday morning received votes from all of the Democrats in the Senate, but failed to receive votes from two Republicans for a two thirds majority required for a budget. 2. NUCLEAR POWER INITIATIVE VO/SOT
Assemblyman Chuck Devore (R-Irvine) is sponsoring a ballot initiative to allow the construction of new nuclear power plants in California. Earlier this year, Devore wrote a similar bill that was killed in its first committee hearing. California banned nuclear power plant construction in 1976 over concerns of nuclear waste storage. 3. INSURANCE COMMISSIONER/FIRE DANGER VO/SOT
Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner (R-Los Gatos) will discuss protection for homeowners of their assets in case of fire. He will urge Californians to update their policies, and instruct them in how to take inventory of assets in case they are lost in a fire at a home in a wooded area.
4. DISABLED STUDENT LEADERSHIP FORUM VO/SOT
Twenty-nine High School students with disabilities are in Sacramento, participating in a Youth Leadership Forum for Students with Disabilities. The three-day forum is being held on the California State University Sacramento Campus. Efforting soundbites and video.
