1. BUDGET VOTE VO/SOT
The Senate meets this morning, in an attempt to pass the state's budget, which is now 25 days overdue. The Assembly passed its version of the budget last week and started its summer recess, but Senate Democrats have not been able to convince and two Republican Senators to break ranks and vote for its passage. 2. GOVERNOR/TAHOE FIRE VO/SOT
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and the governor of Nevada will sign a memorandum of understanding to create a Blue Ribbon Fire Commission to make recommendations to reduce the incidence of fires in the Tahoe Basin. California lawmakers who represent the area where the Angora Fire burned last month called for the formation of this commission. Efforting soundbites and video.
3. AGRICULTURE AND CLIMATE CHANGE VO/SOT
The California Board of Food and Agriculture meets today to discuss the impact of climate change on the tae's agricultural industry. The discussion will include segments in mitigation and adaptation to anticipated climate change, and farm-based renewable energy programs. Efforting soundbites and video.
