1. CHP OFFICER FUNERAL VO/SOT

Highway Patrol Officers and other peace officers will attend the funeral service for CHP Officer Scott Russell. Russell was killed last week, when a suspect struck him during a high speed chase on Highway 50 in El Dorado County. Efforting soundbites and video.

2. INSURANCE COMMISSIONER/HEALTH REPORT CARD VO/SOT

State Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner (R-Los Gatos) will announce California's six largest Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs) will initiative accreditation by national institutions and provide information for Poizner's attempt to create a Health Insurance Report Card. 3. BRIDGE INSPECTIONS UPDATE VO/SOT

Bridge inspectors continue to evaluate the 22 bridges in California that are the same type that collapsed in Minnesota. Federal highway officials ordered all steel deck truss bridges be inspected late last week. State inspectors began evaluations on Friday and were expected to continue this week. 4. VOTING MACHINES DECERTIFIED FOLO VO/SOT

County registrars are scrambling after Secretary of State Debra Bowen (D-Marina del Rey) decertified the three voting systems tested by her team of University of California hackers. The president of the state's registrar's organization expects it will be nearly impossible to recertify at least two of the systems or for counties to convert to the optical scan machines as Secretary Bowen is advocating. Budget 37 days late The state budget is 37 days late and lawmakers have returned to their districts and the governor is out of state. CTNS will effort soundbites and video if there is any movement on the spending plan.

LEGISLATURE'S SCHEDULE
