1. SPINACH RECALL VO/SOT

The California Food Emergency Response Team is investigating the facility, company records and products from Metz Fresh in King City (Monterey County) after the company notified the Food and Drug Administration and the California Department of Public Health that routine company tests showed a positive result for salmonella in fresh bagged spinach. The company voluntarily recalled its product yesterday. State and federal health officials are unaware of any illnesses related to consumption of the company's spinach at this time. The two agencies are working with the company to confirm Metz's independent lab test results, identify the affected product and where and when it was distributed. Efforting soundbites and video.

2. IRAQ BILL IN SENATE VO/SOT

The Senate is supposed to vote on amendments to the "Vote us out of Iraq" bill which would place an advisory, non binding measure on the February presidential primary ballot in 2008 advising the president and congress that Californians want troops out as orderly and as soon as possible. 3. GOVERNOR'S HEALTHCARE BILL VO/SOT

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's bill for providing coverage to all Californians is expected to come up for a floor vote in the State Assembly this morning. The speaker has said he will introduce the bill to illustrate there is no Republican support for the measure that requires GOP votes because some of the fees or taxes that it calls for need a two thirds vote for passage. 4. GOVERNOR MEETS WITH GERMAN MINISTER VO/SOT

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will meet with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier in his council room at the State Capitol. The beginning of the meeting will be open for photographers to spray. CTNS will effort video of the meeting and any remarks the governor may deliver.
