THE F-P-P-C HAS NOT INDICATED WHETHER IT WILL INVESTIGATE THE CLAIM BY THE CALIFORNIA TERM LIMITS DEFENSE FUND. A SPOKESMAN FOR THE ORGANIZATION HOPES TO KNOW IN TWO WEEKS. COMMISSION CHAIRMAN ROSS JOHNSON SAYS F-P-P-C STAFF IS CURRENTLY WORKING ON REVISIONS TO THE REGULATIONS THAT WOULD PROVIDE MORE CLARITY ABOUT WHAT IS AND ISN'T A LEGITIMATE EXPENSE. JOHNSON ACKNOWLEDGES INVESTIGATING CURRENT CLAIMS IS DIFFICULT.

THAT COMPLAINT IS AGAINST SENATE PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE DON PERATA, AFTER REVELATIONS HE WAS USING CAMPAIGN FUNDS FOR PURCHASES AT TARGET, HOME DEPOT AND FOR FINE DINING AND WINE. THE SPEAKER WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR COMMENT TODAY. HIS DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF CALLS THE INVESTIGATION REQUEST A PUBLICITY STUNT BY THE OPPONENTS OF PROP 93, WHOSE LEADER WAS HIMSELF INDICTED FOR CAMPAIGN FRAUD IN OKLAHOMA AND SAYS NUNEZ IS OPEN TO REVIEW OF THE LAW BY THE F-P-P-C. THE COMMISSION CHAIR SAYS ANY CHANGES IN THE REGULATIONS WILL NOT HAPPEN BEFORE NEXT YEAR DUE TO THE PUBLIC NOTICE REQUIREMENTS.
