1. WILDFIRE UPDATE-STATE EFFORTS VO/SOT

Officials at the Governor's Office of Emergency Services are continuing to coordinate the statewide response to the southern California wildfires. The Independent System Operator which manages the state electricity grid is also declaring power emergencies due to fires burning near power lines. Efforting soundbites and video from Cal-ISO in Folsom and Office of Emergency Services in Mather.

2. BARBER RECORDS VO/SOT

The California Association of Regulatory Investigators and Inspectors is taking issue with a directive from the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology asking state inspectors to store confidential information regarding inspected businesses in their own homes. Efforting soundbites and video.

3. MANAGING CALIFORNIA'S GROWTH VO/SOT

Homeland Security Director Federal Homeland Security Director Michael Chertoff is visiting Southern California to tour the wildfire areas. A media availability is tentatively scheduled (due to travel time) for 2 P.M. and a conference call with President Bush for 5 P.M.

GOVERNOR'S SCHEDULE

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is in San Diego and will make a brief appearance via satellite at the Women's Conference in Long Beach. His schedule for later in the day is not yet determined.

LEGISLATURE'S SCHEDULE

The Senate and Assembly have adjourned for the regular 2007 session. The special session for water and health care is ongoing. The 2008 session convenes January 7th.

Firefighters had to put out two fires, six hours apart, at the same south Sacramento home late Sunday night and early Monday morning.

They first responded just before 11 p.m. Sunday to what turned out to be a grease fire at a home on the 2300 block of 52nd Avenue near Sacramento Executive Airport, said Capt. Keith Wade, a spokesman with the Sacramento Fire Department.
