1. NEW STATE PARK VO/SOT

The State Public Works Board is considering the acquisition of 980 tons of ocean front property (formerly part of Fort Ord near Monterey) to create Fort Ord Dunes State Park. The land is currently owned by the federal government, which would give it to California for free. Efforting soundbites and video.

2. VETERANS HONORED AT CAPITOL VO/SOT

The Joint Rules Committee, State Parks and Capitol Museum will conduct a Veterans Day observance in the State Capitol Rotunda. 4. CORRECTIONS REACTION SOT ONLY

Senator Carole Migden (D-San Francisco) is conducting a news conference in San Francisco with the family of a 14 year old girl who was attacked in a San Francisco bakery by a paroled inmate from San Quentin Prison shortly after his release. The Senator has called for an investigation into the failures of the state corrections department to follow procedures that led to the improper release. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is in San Francisco for a briefing on Wednesday's oil spill and Los Angeles for the Latino Coalition for a Healthy California's Conference.

LEGISLATURE'S SCHEDULE

The Senate and Assembly have adjourned for the 2007 session. Special session for water and health care is ongoing so bills on such topics may be introduced and hearings conducted. The 2008 legislative session convenes January 7th.
