Downtown Life Magazine is scheduled to celebrate its fourth anniversary from 7 to 10 tonight at the Merced Multi-Cultural Arts Center, 645 W. Main St. in Merced. Crystal Syphon to perform

We’Ced to celebrate
The staff of youth magazine “We’Ced” will celebrate the release of their third issue from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Coffee Bandits, 309 W. Main St. in Merced. The magazine covers a variety of important issues related to Merced’s community. The magazine’s staff includes students from several campuses in the Merced Union High School District, including continuation schools. Saturday’s event also will include a conversation about topics raised in the third issue. Symphony benefit show
The Merced Symphony is scheduled to host its annual fundraiser, “Music & Merriment,” on Oct. 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the home of UC Merced Assistant Vice Chancellor Graeme and Gigi Mitchell. Downtown Art Hop
Zombies, ghouls and other scary creatures will take over this year’s Merced Art Hop, which is scheduled to happen from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 19 on Main Street in downtown Merced. The event will include $1 raffles from Spirit Halloween and Halloween make-up stations, in addition to a “Zombie Attack” organized by Zombie Walk and a “Thriller Dance” performed by Dance Saute. Screenings of short film
Screenings of the short film “The Marquee Lights” are scheduled to happen from 6 p.m., 7 p.m and 9 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Merced Multi-Cultural Arts Center, 645 W. Main St. For information, visit the event’s Facebook page.
Downtown pub crawl
Downtown Life Magazine is scheduled to hold its inaugural Restaurant and Pub Crawl from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 25. The event is a food and drink lovers’ tour of downtown restaurants and bars, according to the event’s Facebook page. During the event, participants pay and receive a passport granting them access to taste and sample signature dishes and drinks from more than a dozen restaurants and pubs. Attendees will receive a ticket that will be redeemed for a passport the day of the event in Bob Hart Square. The passports will be stamped at each destination on the crawl map. The cost is $20 per person, $68 for a group (four passports). A portion of the proceeds will benefit Playhouse Merced and the Merced County Arts Council.
