Merced firefighters battle breast cancer

The Merced City Firefighters Local 1479 has teamed up with the Merced Mercy Cancer Center and Dignity Health to raise awareness and funds for the center. People who donate $20 will receive a pink T-shirt and the firefighters will wear pink T-shirts starting all this month while on duty. Mature Driver Improvement Classes

ATWATER Merced College’s Office of Continuing Education will host Mature Driver Improvement Classes for residents over the age of 55 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Atwater Community Center, 760 Bellevue Road, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Merced Tri-College, Building 5. There are no registration fees, and most insurance companies will give a discount to those who finish the class. Call (209) 381-6540.

Pasta Drive-Thru Dinner

ATWATER Buhach Colony High School’s Music Boosters will host a Pasta Drive-Thru Dinner from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 27 at 351 Atwater Blvd. Tickets are $10 each and include pasta, salad and garlic bread. There will be a bake sale. All proceeds will benefit the Music Boosters. Call (209) 947-1133.

M.O.J.O. fundraiser dinner

The Mentoring Odd Jobs Organization will hold a fundraising dinner from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Boys and Girls Club, 615 W. 15th St. Tickets are $35 each or $200 for a table of eight. This program helps at-risk and underserved youth find opportunities to gain employment experience and adult mentoring. For more information, call Rachelle at (209) 947-8827.

Long-term care needs seminar

Ameriprise Financial Advisor will host a free Long-term care needs seminar at. 5:30 pm Oct. 29 at Mission Gardens, 1450 East 27th St. Call (209) 383-6577 for more information. Refreshments will be provided.

Free legal services for seniors

Central California Legal Services Inc. and Merced County provide free legal services to seniors. Clients must live in Merced County and be at least 60 years old and U.S. citizens. Appointments are available in Dos Palos, Livingston, Los Banos, Atwater and Merced. Call (209) 385-7550.

Castle Air Museum Foundation

ATWATER The Castle Air Museum Foundation is a nonprofit organization and gets no government funding. If you are interested in the hours of operation, special events, guided tours for schools or clubs, or if you would like to volunteer, call (209) 723-2178.
