DAV seeks volunteer drivers

Cancer research study group

In order to better understand ways to prevent cancer, the American Cancer Society is recruiting men and women across the United States and Puerto Rico for a landmark new research study – Cancer Prevention Study-3. Individuals may choose to participate if they are willing to make a long-term commitment to the CPS-3 study, are between the ages of 30 and 65, and have never been diagnosed with cancer. Four enrollment opportunities in Merced County are from 3:30p.m. to 7p.m. Nov.13 at Castle Family Health Center in Atwater, from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Nov. 14 at Mercy Medical Pavilion in Merced, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 15 at Golden Valley Health Center in Merced, and from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 16 at Mercy UC Davis Cancer Center in Merced. Wildlife refuge tours available

The Merced National Wildlife Refuge is offering bus tours to view cranes and other wildlife at 10 a.m. and noon Nov. 16 at its main entrance, 7430 W. Sandy Mush Rd. There is no cost. Reservations are recommended. Call (209) 826-3508.

Bazaar, luncheon in Le Grand

Martin Short coming to Modesto

Actor and comedian Martin Short, formerly of “Saturday Night Live” and Canada’s SCTV Comedy Network, will perform at 8 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Gallo Center for the Arts.
