Pedestrian hurt in Winton hit-and-run

A pedestrian suffered moderate injuries Sunday in a hit-and-run crash in Winton, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The incident happened at 10:40 a.m. in the parking lot of a market at 6592 N. Winton Way. A maroon Ford F-150 truck was traveling east in the parking lot as 25-year-old Ponce Martin Delgado of Atwater was walking northwest across the lot from the market.

Delgado reported hearing someone screaming west of him, and saw the truck slowly traveling east into the parking lot. Delgado said he continued crossing the lot until he felt something hit him from behind, according to the CHP.

The truck left the scene and was last seen headed west. Delgado was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. The crash remains under investigation.

Anyone with information about the crash or the driver of the truck is asked to call the CHP at (209) 356-2956.
