Local real estate developer Greg Hostetler said he plans to donate 300 turkeys and 300 bags of almonds to needy residents Tuesday afternoon in south Merced.
The giveaway is scheduled to happen at 3:30 p.m. in McNamara Park, which is located near 11th and Canal streets.
Hostetler said he hopes the turkeys will help make Thanksgiving a little better for those less fortunate. He and Cathie Hostetler, his late wife of 38 years, began giving away items to the less fortunate in different parts of the county 30 years ago.
Hostetler said his financial success has increased his philanthropic pursuits in recent years. “If you’re successful in life, you should give back to others in the community,” he said. “It made me feel good and it made (my wife) feel good to do those things.”
