2nd annual Holiday Artisan Fair set for Friday, Saturday

The second annual Holiday Artisan Fair is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4p.m. Friday and Saturday at dowtown’s Merced Multicultural Arts Center 645 W. Main St.. This year will be a collaboration with the Arbor Gallery, located on the first floor of the arts center, while it holds its annual Christmas Open House and Sale, according to the event’s Facebook page.

The Arts Council also will be selling baskets and wrapping for all the gifts that people buy. Attendees will be able to purchase unique, locally sourced gifts.

Sons of the San Joaquin

to play Merced Theatre

Country performers the Sons of the San Joaquin are scheduled to play a Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Merced Theatre. According to the group’s web page, the show will be “casual but choreographed” and supported by the group’s Cowboy Christmas orchestra.

‘A Christmas Carol’

at Playhouse Merced

Playhouse Merced brings together past and present artists as it continues to celebrate its 20th anniversary with the production of “A Christmas Carol – A New Musical,” which plays through Dec. 15. Tickets are on sale now for Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are $22 general, $20 for seniors, $12 for students and $10 for children.

Little Johnny and the Sleepwalkers at The Partisan

Rockabilly band Little Johnny and the Sleepwalkers are scheduled to perform with punk band The Notalauts 9 pm. Friday at The Partisan. Admission is $5, ages 21 and up only. The Partisan is at 432 W. Main St. in downtown Merced. For more information, visit thepartisanmerced.com.

Arts UC Merced Chorale

presents Winter Concert

Arts UC Merced will present its “Chorale Winter Concert: A Shining Night of Stars and Song” at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at UC Merced’s Dr. Lakireddy Auditorium. The event features UC Merced students under the direction of Lorraine Walsh, accompanied by Denise Bumgarner.

The audience will hear classics that evoke images of starry nights and wintry scenes. Guitarist John Albano and flautist Sandra Stocking return to join the choir. Admission is $5 at the door. UC Merced is at 5200 Lake Road. For more information, visit arts.ucmerced.edu.
