Winter Magic at the Groveland Hotel features renowned magicians and entertainers during Groveland’s slow season.
The Dinner Theater series will be held on two dates this season. Heather Rogers will appear Saturday and Robert Baxt is scheduled to perform Feb. 22.
Rogers is a five-star entertainer whose act includes magic, comedy, music, dance, mime, impersonations, escape artistry, circus routines and so much more. She has appeared at more than 4,000 events across the country, including a presidential inaugural ball last year.
As a variety entertainer, audiences become part of the show through Rogers’ sleight-of-hand tricks: quarters and silk handkerchiefs amazingly appear in the hands and up the sleeves of guests; in midair a large soap bubble transforms into a crystal ball; wristwatches vanish and $1 bills magically change into larger denominations.

In 25 years of performing magic, Rogers continues to receive rave reviews.
As a child, when Baxt tried out new jokes with family members, his dad always asked if Baxt could make himself disappear. Eventually he learned to do magic tricks.
He received a bachelor of arts degree in film and theater; then studied law and attained a law degree.
With school behind him, Baxt chose a career in acting. Television viewers may recognize him from the TV sitcom “How I Met Your Mother.” He co-starred as Bernard in several episodes. “Funny Guy” Baxt has also appeared on television in countries around the world.
The vaudeville-style illusionist writes his own comedy material and writes for other comedians as well. He speaks fluent Japanese and is a popular entertainer in Asia.
British reviewers Craig Petty and David Penn say Baxt is a genius at reworking classic routines to bring them up to date for modern audiences.
Dinner begins at 7 p.m. While dining, guests will enjoy tableside magic performed by that evening’s entertainer. A $10 cover charge is required with a dinner reservation. Seating is limited. Reservations may be made by calling (800) 273-3314 or going to www.groveland.com.
