The deadline for independent junior exhibitors planning to enter animals in this year’s Merced County Fair is getting close.
Exhibitors wishing to enter goats, sheep or swine should have required information turned in to the fair office by April 14. The deadline for independent junior exhibitors to enter market beef has passed.
Independent junior exhibitors are those who are not 4-H or FFA members. Exhibitors must present fair management with a copy of a birth certificate or driver’s license as proof of age.
California fair rules require that independent junior exhibitors who enter market sheep, goats or swine must be at least 9 years old or in the fourth grade by Jan. 1, 2014. They are eligible to compete through Dec. 31 of the year in which they turn 19.
