The Merced County Fair will continue to collect unwanted electronic items this weekend as part of its hazardous electronic-waste recycling drive.
The fairgrounds are at 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, and the e-waste recycling drop site will be at the 11th Street parking lot, near the G Street entrance. The site will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The e-waste recycling event will accept only the following items: TVs, computer monitors, LCD screens, plasma screens, laptops, computer towers, printers, copiers, fax machines, calculators, stereo systems, telecom equipment, network equipment, keyboards, computer mice, VCRs, DVD players, speakers, cellphones and telephones.
The e-waste drive is held in conjunction with the city’s annual Spring Cleanup.

The cleanup will recycle most home appliances that are at least 50 percent metal. Three additional drop-off locations will open for the Spring Cleanup at Merced High School (G Street parking lot), Merced College (Frontage Road at Lehigh Drive parking lot) and Golden Valley High School (Childs Avenue parking lot).
According to fair CEO Tom Musser, the items do not have to be in working condition, and there is no limit on the number of items that can be dropped off.
