An injured hiker in Yosemite National Park got a lift from a California Highway Patrol helicopter from Fresno on Tuesday night.
The woman, who is in her 40s, injured her back while hiking in “very rugged” terrain along Tenaya Creek upstream from Mirror Lake in Yosemite Valley, the CHP said. While the injury was moderate, park rangers who hiked out to treat her were concerned that carrying her out could make the injury worse.
The helicopter crew performed a rescue maneuver, hoisting the woman into the aircraft and flying her to Ahwahnee Meadow, where she was taken by ambulance to Yosemite Medical Center.
