A Merced man was arrested last week in connection with an armed robbery reported on May 11 and is under investigation for other robberies, the Merced County Sheriff’s Department reported Monday.
According to reports, the victim was robbed at gunpoint by a man wielding a 12-gauge shotgun in a parking lot, where the victim had agreed to go after responding to a Craigslist ad about an iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.
On May 21, authorities arrested Bobby Santellano, 19, at a home on the 2700 block of Elm Street in Merced. Investigators reportedly found numerous items that had been reported stolen and additional evidence linking Santellano to other robberies in the county.
Merced County sheriff’s Deputy Delray Shelton said a minor and another man were also arrested after an investigation linked them to Santellano and the robbery cases.

The minor is detained at the Merced County juvenile hall. The name of the third suspect is not being revealed due to an ongoing investigation. Officials said Santellano also is connected to a South San Francisco robbery case.
“We believe there are additional cases that have gone unreported,” Shelton said. “We are asking people to report any lingering cases.”
