A Los Banos infant was hospitalized Sunday night after he was run over by a vehicle backing out of a driveway, the Los Banos Police Department reported.
The 21-month-old boy suffered a fractured arm and several large bruises. He was taken by helicopter to a Fresno hospital and kept overnight, Cmdr. Jason Hedden said.
Officers expected the child to be released from the hospital on Monday.
Police do not believe either drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

“The detectives are still investigating, talking to neighbors and trying to find out if anyone in the neighborhood has any surveillance cameras or anything like that,” Hedden said. “But this appears to have been an unfortunate accident.”
Police said a 23-year-old man was backing out of a driveway about 7:15 p.m. Sunday after a barbecue party in the 100 block of G Street. As he pulled onto the street, police said he felt the car go over something and “immediately got out of the car to see what happened.”
The child was quickly taken to the emergency room and then to a Fresno hospital.
Police described the driver as “extremely cooperative with investigators.”
Police said they were looking into how the child came to be on the street but were careful to note that no criminal charges had been sought as of Monday afternoon.
“We know these things can happen when you just turn your head for a second, especially during a large gathering,” Hedden said.
Police are asking anyone in the neighborhood with surveillance cameras or who may have witnessed the incident to contact Detective Ivan Mendez at (209) 827-7070, ext. 114.
