Merced Bicycle Commission meeting

The Merced Bicycle Commission is scheduled to meet 3 p.m. Tuesday inside City Council chambers at the Merced Civic Center, 678 W. 18th St. Topics for discussion include the Bear Creek Bikeway and active transportation grant projects.

Free art demonstration

Arbor Gallery will be hosting its fourth free art demonstration of the year from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 28. The featured artist will be Jackie Anderson, a local artist and member of Arbor Gallery. Anderson uses a variety of art media to create her paintings, and she will be demonstrating how she uses alcohol-based inks to create her vibrantly colored artworks. Family Kite Day

Family Kite Day will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Pacheco State Park near Los Banos. There will be other activities, including a “Make Your Own Kite Free” table, free face painting, pie-eating contests and bubble-gum-blowing competitions. Merced County farmers markets

The Valley Farmers Market is open every Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2877 Atwater Blvd. in Atwater, and the Merced Flea and Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. behind the fairgrounds, 900 G St.; EBT is accepted at both. The Merced Certified Farmers Market is open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at 19th and N streets in Merced. The Buhach Farmers Market is open every Monday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 4814 Clover Ave.; take the Buhach Exit off of Highway 99. The Le Grand Certified Farmers Market runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays on Washington Street and Le Grand Road, next to Pizza Factory.

Sailing club shrimp feed

The Lake Yosemite Sailing Club will hold its annual all-you-can-eat shrimp feed and open house from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Lake Yosemite clubhouse. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children 6 to 12. The meal is shrimp, pasta, salad, bread and nonalcoholic beverages. Breakfast in Snelling

Snelling will host its final scheduled breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the IOOF Hall. Tickets are $5 for adults; children 3 and younger are free. The meal includes pancakes, biscuits and gravy, eggs, coffee and juice. For more information, call (209) 563-6344.

Library book sale

Friends of the Merced County Library is holding a book sale until June 30 at 2100 O St. in Merced. Fill a bag with hardback fiction or nonfiction books for $3.

Library summer reading
