Merced Bicycle Commission meeting

The Merced Bicycle Commission is scheduled to meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday inside the City Council chamber at the Merced Civic Center, 678 W. 18th St. Topics for discussion include the Bear Creek Bikeway and active transportation grant projects.

Scholarship opportunity

The Horatio Alger Cortopassi Family Foundation is offering vocational scholarships for community college students. Receive $2,500 per semester up to a maximum of $10,000. Applicants must live in Merced, Stanislaus, Madera or San Joaquin county, be no older than 25, demonstrate financial need per a financial aid award letter, and be a high school graduate or have a GED equivalent. Yosemite 150th celebration

Yosemite National Park will hold several events on Monday to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Yosemite Grant. The major events of the day are the 10 a.m. ceremony in the Mariposa Grove and the 3 p.m. Parks Heritage Program in front of the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center. Both are public and no tickets are required, according to the National Parks Service.

Covered California event

Outreach and a special enrollment fair for Covered California is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday inside the Le Grand High School gym, 12961 E. Le Grand Road. Certified enrollment counselors and outreach/education specialists will be available to answer questions. Bring a driver’s license or identification information, along with income and federal tax information.

Class of ’84 reunion

Free art demonstration

Arbor Gallery will have its fourth free art demonstration from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The featured artist will be local painter Jackie Anderson, who will demonstrate the use of alcohol-based inks. The Arbor Gallery is inside the Multicultural Arts Center, 645 W. Merced County farmers markets

The Valley Farmers Market is open every Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2877 Atwater Blvd. in Atwater, and the Merced Flea and Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. behind the fairgrounds, 900 G St. EBT is accepted at both. The Merced Certified Farmers Market is open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays at 19th and N streets in Merced. The Buhach Farmers Market is open every Monday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 4814 Clover Ave. Take the Buhach Exit off Highway 99. The Le Grand Certified Farmers Market runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays on Washington Street and Le Grand Road, next to Pizza Factory.

Library book sale

Friends of the Merced County Library is holding a book sale until Monday at 2100 O St. in Merced. Fill a bag with hardback fiction or nonfiction books for $3.
