Merced police are searching for a man who robbed a Rite Aid in Merced late Tuesday.

The robbery was reported at 9:37 p.m. inside the 3142 G St. store, according to Sgt. Alan Ward.

Ward said the robber entered the store, brandished a small handgun and demanded cash from the clerk. The clerk handed over an undisclosed sum of cash and the robber left the scene.

The robber was described as being a white man in his late 40s to early 50s, 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall, medium build with long hair, possibly brown in color, tied back in a ponytail, wearing a baseball cap. He was also wearing a white or gray T-shirt, with blue jeans.
