A 25-year-old Fish Camp man was arrested earlier this week after California Highway Patrol officers found him in possession of a plastic bag of marijuana and with $115,000 cash in his car.
About 1:20 p.m. Sunday, Merced area CHP pulled over Yusen Efrain Valenzuela Herrera’s car for a traffic violation on southbound Highway 99 near Avenue 15. An officer determined Herrera didn’t have a valid driver’s license, and a plastic bag of marijuana was visible, according to Officer Moises Onsurez.
A search of the vehicle yielded a bag containing a large amount of U.S. currency, and a law enforcement dog alerted officers to the presence of drugs on the money. Officers searched the entire car and found a total of $115,000 cash.
The Merced Multi-Agency Narcotics Task Force assisted with the investigation.
