Merced police, Sheriff’s SWAT Teams serve search/arrest warrants

    ORDER REPRINT →

July 25, 2014 09:25 AM

Merced police and Merced County Sheriff’s deputies served search and arrest warrants early Friday morning in the 3800 block of Highway 140 near Easy Street.

The warrants, which were for weapons-related charges, were served around 6:30 a.m. on two or three suspects, according to Lt. Matt Williams. Williams said the investigative phase of the case is ongoing, and law enforcement is currently interviewing the suspects.

Williams said SWAT Teams from both departments were involved in the operation because of the circumstances of the case. Williams also mentioned the case may have gang overtones.

More details will be posted as they become available.
