The Merced County Fair will be moving up its starting date by one week in 2015 to avoid any conflicts with other fairs, officials announced Tuesday.
The 2015 Merced County Fair will take place Wednesday, June 10, through Sunday, June 14. Next year’s earlier dates are a result of other fairs, including both the California State Fair in Sacramento and the Alameda County Fair in Pleasanton, pushing up their dates for 2015.
Moving the Merced County Fair up a week allows organizers to maintain the quality of food, vendors and carnival rides, according to fair officials. The change also means that the last day of the fair will not fall on Father’s Day, as it has since 2010.
Officials also announced that the fair will no longer conduct slogan and logo contests. Instead, the fair’s board of directors chose to have the same slogan every year, but with a different theme. The slogan will be “5 Best Days of Summer.” In 2015, the fair will have a beach theme.

“The contests were fun, but they took a lot of time and delayed a lot of our fair planning,” said Tom Musser, the fair’s CEO. “Selecting a slogan that we change up every year will provide more time for planning fair entertainment, attractions, exhibits and all that goes into putting on the fair.”
However, the fair continues to welcome input from community members on what they would like to see and do at the fair. Anyone interested in getting involved with fair can call (209) 722-1507 or email organizers at Info@MercedCountyFair.com.
