It’s been so hot up and down the Valley this week that even a butterfly needs to take a break. But there’s not much relief in sight, according to forecasters, so reducing movement while outdoors remains a good idea. Temperatures moved into triple digits in Merced this week, hitting 105 degrees Wednesday and 106 degrees Thursday. The highs are expected to remain at or higher than the century mark throughout the weekend, with the possibly of a slight decrease into the high 90s by Monday. Forecasters say high pressure that’s moved over the region is keeping a lid on the weather, creating stagnant conditions and baking the Valley. A record high temperature could be in store today.
