‘I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream” was the title of a popular song first published in the 1920s. Despite the age of the song, the message remains the same even today – especially during long, hot Valley summers. And that was certainly the case earlier this month and during late July when triple-digit temperatures were the norm in Merced and throughout much of the region. It was that extreme heat that brought consumers of all ages to ice cream vendors such as Cold Stone Creamery in Merced, where there were lots of flavors and toppings to choose from to create just the right treat for cooling off. Even amid more moderate temperatures in recent days, ice cream remains a screaming good idea for many.
