Munoz drove into the big rig’s path and was broadsided. The impact caused the big rig to travel in a northeasterly direction and onto the median, where it came to a stop on its right side. The trailer landed on its right side, causing a load of melons it was carrying to spill onto the dirt median.
The Impala traveled in a northeasterly direction onto the median, where it came to a stop on its wheels. Munoz suffered major head injuries and was flown to a Modesto hospital. Shiver also suffered major injuries and was flown to a Modesto hospital.
Guadarrama suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Mercy Medical Center.
The CHP said the crash remains under investigation.
