A Delhi mother and her boyfriend pleaded not guilty Friday to felony charges in connection with the death of the woman’s 2-year-old daughter.
Kalena M. Olson, 22, and Sergio A. Zamora, 24, both of Delhi, denied responsibility for the April 21 death of Olson’s daughter, Hennessy Fagin, whose body was found at a home in the 9600 block of Hillside Drive in Delhi.
Olson and Zamora entered their pleas Friday morning before Judge Marc A. Garcia in Merced Superior Court, according to records.
Zamora has been charged with murder and assaulting a child, causing death. If convicted, he faces a potential life prison sentence.

Olson has been charged with two counts of child endangerment, one for Hennessy and a second for her other child, a 3-year-old girl. Both children allegedly were placed in “circumstances likely to produce great bodily harm or death” between Jan. 1 and April 21, according to the complaint filed by the Merced County District Attorney’s Office.
Olson faces a maximum state prison sentence of eight years, if convicted.
The 3-year-old was placed in the custody of Child Protective Services in April.
The Merced County Sheriff’s Department said Hennessy was suffocated and both children allegedly were abused in similar ways. Investigators have not said exactly how the child was killed.
Efforts to reach the attorneys representing Zamora and Olson were unsuccessful Friday.
Olson was first arrested in April after the child’s death, but was released without formal charges. A four-month investigation resulted in the arrests of Zamora and Olson on Aug. 16 by the Turlock Police Department.
Both defendants remained in custody Friday at the John Latorraca Correctional Facility. Zamora’s bail was listed as more than $1.1 million. Olson’s bail was set at $200,000.
