Gang members fired at least one shot at a rival’s car Friday in Merced, police reported.
No one was injured when the shot struck the vehicle just before 5 p.m. in the area of Ninth and S streets in Merced. Officers believe the shooter fired from a car at another vehicle occupied by three suspected gang rivals, police Sgt. Joe Weiss told the Merced Sun-Star.
Few details were immediately available. Police described the victims as uncooperative. Investigators were pursuing several possible leads in the case late Friday.
Two Merced gang officers were in the area and heard the gunfire. The officers spotted two cars speeding away from the scene, police said.

Police stopped the victims’ car and confirmed nobody inside was hit in the shooting, Weiss said.
The suspect vehicle, described as a small white sedan, was last seen heading east on Ninth Street from S Street. The driver was described as a black man, and police said there was a black woman in a passenger’s seat. It was unclear which person from the car opened fire.
