Turlock’s Teo Chiesa held off Buhach Colony’s Emie Ochoa for a two-stroke victory at the Central California Conference Championships on Tuesday.
Chiesa shot a 3-over 75 at Stevinson Ranch to hold off Ochoa (77). Turlock’s Baily Old (82), Atwater’s Gilbert Rodriguez (82) and Buhach’s Brandon Gordian (84) rounded out the top five.
The Thunder won the team competition with a 427. Turlock was three shots off of the pace, but goes into the postseason as the top seed after winning the regular-season crown. Pitman, Atwater and Golden Valley all tied for third with 467s, but the Pride will be the third team moving on to next week’s Division 1 South Tournament in Stockton by virtue of having won the tiebreaker.
Rodriguez, Peter Kim (Golden Valley), Wei Chang (El Capitan), Nick Toste (Atwater), Gabriel Rodriguez (Atwater) and John Rowe (Merced) will be the six individual qualifiers.
