Sacramento and the rest of the nation closed out Labor Day with the cheapest summer gasoline prices in more than a decade, according to national gas price tracker GasBuddy.com.
In its Tuesday report, GasBuddy said the average retail gas price in the Sacramento area was $2.54 a gallon, 2.5 cents higher than a month ago but nearly 40 cents below the year-ago average.
From 2011 through 2015, GasBuddy said the average at-the-pump cost of gas in the area was $3.87, $4.10, $3.73, $3.76 and $2.93, respectively.
