Life Time Fitness Inc., the Minnesota-based company that opened a $30 million, 307,000-square-foot fitness megacenter in Roseville in May last year, said Tuesday that it will open a similar center in Folsom in the spring of 2017.
The Folsom Life Time Athletic facility will be built at 110 Serpa Way, just northeast of the East Bidwell Street exit off Highway 50. It will be Life Time’s second facility in Northern California.
Officials said the two-story center will have nearly 300,000 square feet of space and include an outdoor aquatic center and tennis complex. Like the Roseville Life Time Athletic center, the Folsom facility is expected to employ about 300.
Officials said future memberships for the Folsom center were marketed online and through the Roseville center, and more than 3,000 are on a wait list for the Folsom site.
A “Preview Center” is open at 110 Serpa Way, where visitors can learn more about memberships and the facilities that will be on-site.
“We are delighted to bring our truly unique and personalized healthy way of life approach and experience to Folsom and the surrounding communities,” Jeff Zwiefel, Life Time chief operating officer, said in a statement.
Life Time centers are geared to family participation, including setting individual fitness programs and goals for adults and children.
Features of the planned Folsom facility include eight hard-surface, lighted outdoor tennis courts; indoor/outdoor pools; numerous fitness programs; 400 pieces of cardiovascular and resistance-training equipment; a full-service spa; a café and a membership program designed for youngsters ranging in age from three months to 11.
The Preview Center is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Life Time Fitness currently operates 121 centers in 26 states.
