The Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op announced Thursday that its new store at 28th and R streets will open Wednesday. The 46,000-square-foot store will have a much larger kitchen and grocery and a bigger parking lot than the current store on Alhambra Boulevard.

The old store will close at 5 p.m. Sunday. To make the move a little lighter, the Co-op is giving 10 percent off entire purchases on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The new store, with an estimated $9 million building cost, was built on a former parking lot next to a light-rail line. The smaller co-op has operated at Alhambra and S Street since 1988.
