The average retail price of gasoline in the area fell 3.3 cents over the past week to an average $2.63 per gallon, according to national gas price tracker GasBuddy.com’s weekly report released Monday.
That’s 2.6 cents lower than one month ago and 3.2 cents below the year-ago level.
Nationally, the average was $2.23 a gallon, up 3 cents from last month but 3.4 cents lower than the average on the same date in 2015.
The Sacramento area’s average price for Oct. 17 remains significantly lower than those seen on the same day in years past. The average in 2013 was $3.68 a gallon; it was $4.44 a gallon in 2012.
