Chocolate Fish Coffee will open a new location on Freeport Boulevard early next year, its owner said Friday.
Edie Baker, co-owner of the coffeehouse, recently signed a lease on a 1,500-square-foot spot next to Taylor’s Market in Land Park. The site was a former lawnmower store.
“There isn’t a lot of specialty coffee in Curtis Park and Land Park,” Baker said. “We knew there was a need for sure.”
The Freeport branch will be the third Chocolate Fish in Sacramento. Edie and husband Andy Baker first set up shop in 2008 at Third and Q streets. A second location opened in East Sacramento in 2013.

“We weren’t really looking to expand,” Baker said. “The developer contacted us to look at the building.”
