The average retail price in the area rose 3.8 cents over the past week to $2.61 a gallon, according to national price tracker GasBuddy.com. The average has risen more than 7 cents over the past two weeks and is 12 cents higher than it was a month ago.
Energy analysts said the Nov. 30 agreement by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries to cut oil production by 1.2 million barrels a day in 2017 has put upward pressure on prices from coast to coast.
