Cracker Barrel, a national restaurant chain known for Southern cuisine, is coming to Sacramento, according to a company spokesperson.
The restaurant will open in 2018. The location and specific dates associated with the project have not been announced.
Cracker Barrel is best known for its “down-home” food and its antique decor that reflects individual locations. Attached to each restaurant is a general store that sells knickknacks such as toys and candy.
Once construction begins in Sacramento, the company’s “decor team” will begin searching for authentic antiques “customized to the local community.”

Cracker Barrel, founded in Lebanon, Tenn., in 1969, has 645 locations in 44 states. Most of the restaurants are along interstate highways, meant to attract hungry travelers.
Sacramento is the second California city that will host Cracker Barrel. Ground was broken on July 31 for a franchise in the San Bernardino County city of Victorville, and a February 2018 opening is scheduled.
The company is looking for other California locations. As many as 175 to 200 employees are expected to be hired for the Sacramento franchise.
