Texas-based JCPenney says it will hire 350 holiday season workers for its Sacramento-area operations.

The planned local hires are part of a statewide effort to hire more than 5,000 seasonal employees at stores throughout California.

The retailer said it hopes to fill nearly 40,000 seasonal positions at 875 stores nationwide during its “National Hiring Day” next Tuesday. Hiring Day activities include in-person interviews from 2 to 8 p.m. at all JCPenney stores.

Available customer service and support positions include cashiers, replenishment specialists and beauty consultants. Seasonal workers are eligible for merchandise discounts of up to 25 percent.

Job seekers can use in-store kiosks to apply or go to jcpcareers.com.
