Gearing up for the spring shopping season, The Home Depot is planning to hire 1,500 people in the Sacramento region.

The regional hiring effort includes more than 30 stores within about 50 miles of downtown Sacramento.

The regional hiring push by the Atlanta-based chain is part of a national effort to hire some 80,000 workers nationwide, including positions in nearly 2,000 stores and dozens of distribution facilities.

The retailer said applications can be submitted online at careers.homedepot.com. The online application process can be done in about 15 minutes.

Job seekers also can text HOMEDEPOT to 52270 and receive a link to apply for hourly positions in their areas.

Positions available run the gamut, including cashiers, customer service, online order fulfillment and sales representatives.

Home Depot said part-time and full-time permanent hourly employees can qualify for various benefits offered by the company.
