Food and beverage options in Sacramento International Airport’s Terminal A will be shuffled Friday, with temporary vendors moving in while the terminal’s food court is remodeled for six new, permanent restaurant sites arriving in 2015.
The temporary vendors include Jet Box, offering grab-and-go sandwiches, salads and coffee. It will be joined by True Burger, Mia Mozzarella, Peet’s Coffee & Tea, Sacramento Sports Bar and the Rebar restaurant/bar.
Last month, the airport and SSP America, a national operator of airport food outlets, announced that existing restaurants in Terminal A would close July 31. Under a 10-year, $80 million contract, SSP said it will bring Peet’s Coffee & Tea to Terminal A, along with three outposts of well-known local eateries: burger maker Squeeze Inn, Italian restaurant Paesanos and comfort food purveyor Cafeteria 15L, which already has a restaurant in Terminal B. The other planned restaurants will be Toronto-based Freshii, which will serve salads, burritos and smoothies, and SSP-operated Urban Crave, which will serve burgers, salads and sandwiches.
SSP America said it is spending $3 million to build new storefronts and buy equipment for Terminal A’s permanent food and beverage concessions. Currently, SSP manages three restaurants – Cafeteria 15L, Dos Coyotes and Jack’s Urban Eats – in the Sacramento airport’s Terminal B.
