The Arden Garden Market in Sacramento will host grand-opening festivities next Thursday. The public market, at 1409 Del Paso Blvd., was developed by Dan Friedlander to host a weekly farmers’ market as well as permanent space for agricultural vendors and artists.
The opening celebration, from 5 to 9 p.m., will include music, painting demonstrations by local artists, food trucks and a farmers’ market. There also will be an unveiling of a mural by artist Demetris Washington.
The site currently hosts a certified farmers’ market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday and plans to add specialty vendors on the second and fourth Saturdays in October. Future plans include permanent retail space, a community garden and an ethnic center. For details, see ardengardenmarket.com.
